Send to Dispatch — Chrome extension
"Send to Dispatch" is a browser extension that sends the page you're currently
viewing to the Dispatch desktop app, running locally on your own Mac.
What the extension does
- When you click the toolbar icon, the extension reads the HTML of the current
tab and sends it, together with the page's URL, to a server running locally at
http://127.0.0.1 on your own computer.
- A pairing token (which you set up once, copied from the Dispatch app) is sent
with each request so only your own paired browser can deliver pages.
What the extension does not do
- It does not send any data to any server other than the local Dispatch app on
your own machine.
- It does not collect analytics, browsing history, or any data about pages you
have not explicitly clicked the toolbar button on.
- It does not run on pages automatically — only on the specific page open when
you choose to click the extension's icon.
Data storage
- The pairing token and port number are stored locally in the browser's
extension storage (
chrome.storage.local) and are never transmitted anywhere
except to the local Dispatch app.
- Captured page content is stored by the Dispatch app on your own Mac; it is not
sent to any third party or cloud service by this extension.
